October Spotlight Athlete

    Jenn Taylor is our October Spotlight Athlete!  Jenn decided to add CrossFit to her running routine, 10 months later she is going strong and loving it.  Jenn loves starting her day with CrossFit and the energy it gives her.  She tells us that she feels the healthiest and strongest than she has ever felt in her life!   Jenn ‘survived’ the CrossFit Open and is looking forward to competing in the upcoming 2015 Fall Festivus Games being hosted by your very own CrossFit Sworn.  Good luck Jenn, with all the hard work you put in and your ‘can do’ attitude, you will do great!  All are welcome to come cheer her on – or better yet join the fun and compete yourself! CS:  Tell us about your life outside the gym. JT:  I am a research faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine at the IU School of Medicine. I have been married to Zac for over 11 years and we have two daughters – Madie and Parker. Life feels too busy for hobbies right now, but I will never pass down a good book or a gathering with friends and frosty beverages. CS:  What about your athletic experience, including time CrossFitting? JT:  I would not call myself an athlete. I started running in 2006 after I have my first child to lose weight and while I enjoy it, it can get boring at times. August Spotlight Athlete

  Jonathon ‘Jonny’ Hunt is our August Spotlight Athlete!  Jonny has been with us for 8 months and is fully dedicated to improving his performance everyday he is in the gym.   He is always working hard to improve his skills and mobility, even after giving it all in the WOD.  Jonny has a healthy competitive drive that keeps him going, while always encouraging others to do their best.  Those of you that have the privilege of working out with Jonny know that you if stand around too long after the work out, he will usually ‘drag’ you out for that extra run.  Keep up the good work Jonny! CS:  Tell us about your life outside the gym. JH: I have been the General Manager at Steak ‘n Shake for the past 10 years. I am also a single dad living in greenwood with my daughters who are 14 and 10 years old. I enjoy Playing basketball and disc golf. Huge Baseball and UFC fan as well. Spending time, and being involved in activities with my family is extremely important to me. CS: What is your athletic experience including time CrossFitting? JH: I played baseball and basketball growing up. I still enjoy 3-on-3 tournaments with my dad whenever possible. I’ve been doing CrossFit for 8 months now. CS: What is your favorite move/wod? July Spotlight Athlete

  Introducing Di Kaemingk as your July Spotlight Athlete!  Di started CrossFit to get in shape for her wedding and fell in love with her healthy new lifestyle.  She and her husband Nate, brave the early morning to get their work out in for the day and it has been well worth it.  She has gained confidence in her physical abilities and and even competed in  and placed this year in the Festivus Games.  Keep up the good work Di!   CS:  Tell us about yourself out side of the gym. DK:  I am a Marketing and Event Planning at Angie’s List.  I’m married to Nate Kaemingk and we have 2 weiner dogs Franklin and Little Tee.  Hobbies include photography, cooking, trying new restaurants and food, wine, traveling, hanging out with my husband J CS:  Tell us about your athletic experience including time cross fitting. DK:  I was a high school cheerleader and started CrossFit at CrossFitX in Bellingham, WA in 2012. CS:  What is your favorite move/wod? DK:  I really like partner WODs because I’m motivate by knowing I have to carry my weight for the team. It’s also more fun to workout with someone. May Spotlight Athlete

  Chris Kahrer is Sworn’s May Spotlight Athlete!  Chris and his girlfriend Alexis began CrossFit together in our on-ramp 7 months ago, and love the supportive family atmosphere that is CrossFit Sworn.  He knows no stranger, and always has a great smile and positive attitude when he walks into the gym. Chris likes that with CrossFit you can enjoy the health benefits of working out while having FUN!  He would encourage anyone to give it a try, but to shop around the many CrossFit gyms before you decide-of course for Chris and Alexis, CrossFit Sworn was ‘by far the best one we found’.  Thanks Chris-keep working hard! CS:  Tell us about yourself, occupation, family, hobbies. CK:  IUPUI Groundskeeper/maintenance, Kelley School of Business student. I am an only child. My hobbies include spending time with my lovely and beautiful girlfriend Alexis Ellis, listening to music, hanging out with my friends, going to the shooting range, playing with my pups, enjoying craft beers, occasionally messing around with my skateboard, and of course CROSSFITTING!!!! April Spotlight Athlete

Introducing Andrea Brown as CrossFit Sworn’s April Spotlight Athlete!  Andrea has been working hard with us for over a year and shows no sign of slowing down.  While Andrea is no stranger to the world of fitness and sports, she enjoys the variety that CrossFit provides.  She is also inspired by the community and supportive atmosphere that we have been blessed with at Sworn.  You will always find Andrea with a great smile on her face putting in work with ‘The Dream Team’ 😉 PS-Andrea, we fully expect to see your ski skills at this years boathouse trip! CS:  Tell us about your personal life. AB:  I work at Community Health Network, where I have worked for 15 years. My degree is in physical therapy but I am now the Director of Ambulatory Pavilions and Real Estate. I am open to new and exciting challenges, and the hours are a little better in this job so I can spend more time with my family. I love Community and have worked there since I moved to Indianapolis in 2000. My family includes my husband, Kevin and my two children—Tyler (12) and Kelsey (7). You see Kelsey a lot at Sworn but Tyler is usually at baseball, with Kevin coaching, on the nights we are there. We enjoy spending time at the ball park with Tyler in the summer time and as a family we love movie nights where we just hang out together and relax. March Spotlight Athlete

      Ryan Finchum is representing Sworn for the month of March! Ryan and his wife, Tamar, have been a part of our Sworn family since the very beginning.  CrossFit is the first consistent athletic program that Ryan has participated in and credits that in part to the variety and challenges that it provides.   He is motivated by the great feeling of being physically fit and healthy.  Ryan’s attention to detail and hard work has paid off in his training and he has made great progress these past 2 years. He will be competing in the CrossFit Open for the first time this year and is excited to see how he stacks up against others out side of our gym.  Good luck Ryan!   CS:  Tell us about your personal life. RF:  IT consultant – Finchum’s Computer Services…I have clients all over Indianapolis that I help with various computer/network-related issues they may have, residential and small business…I’ve been doing it full time since 2008. My wife is Tamar and she has been Crossfitting with me since Sworn opened.
