July Spotlight Athlete




Introducing Di Kaemingk as your July Spotlight Athlete!  Di started CrossFit to get in shape for her wedding and fell in love with her healthy new lifestyle.  She and her husband Nate, brave the early morning to get their work out in for the day and it has been well worth it.  She has gained confidence in her physical abilities and and even competed in  and placed this year in the Festivus Games.  Keep up the good work Di!


CS:  Tell us about yourself out side of the gym.

DK:  I am a Marketing and Event Planning at Angie’s List.  I’m married to Nate Kaemingk and we have 2 weiner dogs Franklin and Little Tee.  Hobbies include photography, cooking, trying new restaurants and food, wine, traveling, hanging out with my husband J

CS:  Tell us about your athletic experience including time cross fitting.

DK:  I was a high school cheerleader and started CrossFit at CrossFitX in Bellingham, WA in 2012.

CS:  What is your favorite move/wod?

DK:  I really like partner WODs because I’m motivate by knowing I have to carry my weight for the team. It’s also more fun to workout with someone. I really like bench press, ring dips and anything that works out my arms and shoulders.

CS:  What is your least favorite move/wod?

DK:  Snatch and overhead Squats. Enough said.

CS:  How has CrossFit changed your life?

DK:  I started in January 2012 to lose weight for my wedding. I couldn’t even do a pushup. Now I can do 100 and so much more. I never thought of myself as someone who could be competitive physically but it’s given me a lot of confidence. I’m in the best shape of my life and I actually enjoy going to workouts. It’s also forced me to eat healthier and have a total health mentality.

CS:  What is your greatest Crossfit accomplishment and future goal?

DK:  When I finally got my first Toes to Bar. It was after a WOD on a Saturday a few months ago J I also came in third place in the Festivus Games (it was a small division but I still placed)!

CS:  What motivates you to stay fit?

DK:  Knowing that I can stay healthy if I work for it.

CS:  What advise would you give to someone thinking of starting CrossFit or new to CrossFit?

DK:  The on ramp is a really great way to learn the movements and get to know the CrossFit style of working out. I had a great time in my class and met a lot of people who I stayed friends with until I left my old box in Wa State. I would also say don’t be intimidated by the workouts. I still have to scale some and I’ve been doing this three years. As long as you put forth your best effort everyday when you walk in and commit to going, you’ll improve fast!

CS:  What is something we don’t know about you?

DK:  I’ve traveled to 31 countries and I love getting to know different cultures. I’ve also lived in 5 states and 2 countries in the last 10 years.

CS:  If you were not in the gym you would be                          ?

DK:  In bed. I love to sleep…despite the fact that I come to the 6:30am class. Nate usually has to get me up!
